Synaptic Research is currently developing a protein delivery vehicle based on recombinant forms of Clostridial toxins (both C. botulinum and C. difficile), which draws upon extensive experience with these toxins. The SCRMC, through the School of Medicine & Public Health and Graduate School, provides a central point of contact, information and facilitation for all stem cell research activities on campus. Its mission is to advance the science of stem cell biology and foster breakthroughs in regenerative medicine through faculty interactions, research support and education. More than 65 faculty members maintain the UW-Madison as a leader in stem cell and regenerative medicine research and application by fostering increased communication within campus and beyond its borders. Center staff and members support basic, translational, clinical, bioethics, and public policy research. Other activities include developing educational, training, outreach and philanthropy programs.

WiCell is a non-profit research institute established in 1999 to advance the science and therapeutic potential of human pluripotent stem cells.   As a supporting organization of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, WiCell provides UW faculty access to specialized facilities, expertise, cell lines and training.   WiCell also hosts the National Stem Cell Bank and the WISC Bank, conducts stem cell research, offers educational outreach programs for K-12 students and the community, and trains scientists worldwide on how to work with stem cells.   In addition, WiCell provides advanced cytogenetic services including karyotyping and array-based genome analysis and, in partnership with the Waisman Clinical Biomanufacturing Facility at the UW-Madison, offers stem cell lines that meet Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements to support translational research through clinical applications.
