While the public is interested and highly invested in scientific and medical progress, a low level of scientific understanding leaves many in a difficult position when navigating the waters of stem cell-related biology, ethics/policy, and medical intervention. Scientists, as individuals, have a clear job to do in this area where increased public education efforts stand to do important work. This essay offers the perspective of one scientist working in the stem cell research arena who is also engaged on matters of policy, ethics, and education.
