After earning his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and working for Fairchild Semiconductor, Dr. Grove participated in the founding of Intel Corporation. He was named President in 1979, CEO and Chairman in 1987. Having stepped down as Chairman in 2005, he continues as Senior Advisor.
Andy is a prostate cancer survivor who authored an article in Fortune detailing his experience researching treatments for prostate cancer. He was named “Man of the Year” by Time magazine in 1997. He is Patient Advocate at the University of California San Francisco, where over the last couple of years he helped to put in place a program leading to a Masters Degree in Translational Medicine. He is the author of over 40 technical papers and six books, including Only the Paranoid Survive and has taught at Stanford Business School for over 20 years. Dr. Grove is an advisor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the International Rescue Committee. He has been active in cancer and neuroscience research through his private family foundation.
