Miami, Fla. – Jan. 7, 2019 – The Regenerative Medicine Manufacturing Society (RMMS) returns to the Phacilitate Leaders World and World Stem Cell Summit for its second annual membership meeting to be held on the pre-conference day in Miami, Fl.

The meeting, which will take place on Jan. 22 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Miami, brings together a diverse network of stakeholders, including industry, academia (basic and clinical research), regulatory agencies, non-profit organizations, and investment and funding agencies. The goal of RMMS is to promote the scale-up of regenerative medicine manufacturing technologies and processes to facilitate the smooth and quick transition of new therapies to market for the benefit of patients.

The pre-conference day meeting provides “a forum for sharing the latest developments in the field, as well as, learning about new membership opportunities,” said RMMS Executive Director Josh Hunsberger, Ph.D. “Additionally, our leadership team has assembled seven sessions that will take place throughout the entire combined conferences, hitting key themes of particular interest to our society.”

The RMMS partnered sessions at the event include topics related to lowering the cost of goods, supply chain and scalability, standards for cell and gene therapies, automation, bioengineering technologies, and more.

Anthony Atala, M.D., director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) and a founding member of RMMS, will speak at the membership meeting about an industry driven regenerative medicine manufacturing effort, the Regenerative Manufacturing Innovation Consortium (RegMIC). RegMIC is advancing platform technologies to accelerate efforts in regenerative medicine manufacturing through partnerships with government, industry, and academia.

“Partnerships and collaboration between stakeholders are vitally important to the regenerative medicine field so that we can bring high-quality, cost-effective therapies to patients,” Atala said. WFIRM is a co-organizing sponsor of the 2019 World Stem Cell Summit and Phacilitate Leaders World, both of which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Miami from January 22-25, 2019.

RMMS is the world’s first professional organization dedicated solely to advancing the field of regenerative medicine through manufacturing. In addition to serving as an information clearing house, the society supports professional and workforce development and promotes the infrastructure for the field’s success. Stem Cells Translational Medicine is the official journal of the society. The journal is also the official journal of two other organizations- the Cord Blood Association and the Regenerative Medicine Foundation that produces the World Stem Cell Summit.
