Dr. Claude T. Moorman III, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health..
In February, Dr. Moorman was named president of Atrium Health’s musculoskeletal institute and chair of the orthopedic surgery department.
Dr. Moorman previously worked at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Medical Center, serving as the James R. Urbaniak Sports Sciences Institute’s executive director, orthopedics department vice chairman and Duke University Athletics’ head team physician.
Dr. Moorman’s accomplishments include founding the College Park-based University of Maryland’s sports medicine program.
With more than 150 published works, Dr. Moorman has received several honors, including the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Outstanding Service Award for exceptional leadership as Membership Committee chairman.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Moorman completed an internship and residency at Duke University Medical Center. He underwent fellowship training at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
